- English Language: 30 Questions (30 Marks, 20 Minutes). Focuses on reading comprehension, cloze test, error detection, sentence improvement, and vocabulary.
- Numerical Ability: 35 Questions (35 Marks, 20 Minutes). Emphasizes simplification/approximation (10–12 questions), missing/wrong number series, data interpretation graphs, and arithmetic problems.
- Reasoning Ability: 35 Questions (35 Marks, 20 Minutes). Dominated by linear/circular seating arrangements, floor/box puzzles, syllogisms, inequalities, and blood relations.
- Negative Marking: Each correct response carries +1 mark. A penalty of 0.25 (1/4th) marks is deducted for every incorrect response.
- Sectional Timers & No Sectional Cut-Off: Each section locks automatically after 20 minutes. Unlike IBPS exams, SBI does not impose sectional qualifying cut-offs; selection for Phase 2 (Mains) is based solely on overall aggregate scores.
