Polytechnic Diploma in Automobile Engineering or Automotive Engineering

In India, Various ITI’s are offering various Training courses/programs in various branches of engineering. Automobile or Automotive engineering / Vehicle Engineering is one of them.

ITI in Mechanic Motor Vehicle: 

This is also known as ITI Diploma in Automobile Engineering or Vehicle / Automotive Engineering. In general terms, a Mechanic is a person who repairs motor vehicles. It is 2 years ITI Diploma which includes 4 semesters of six months each. Its course was specially designed to train the untrained people who had an interest in motor vehicles and their functionality.

As time Passed away it took a look at modern trade which has been a point of attention to so many Engineering Aspirants.

There is no entrance exam for taking admission in  ITI courses/trades

There is no exam conduct for taking the admission of interested candidates in ITI’s. Admission is served on the merit-based system. This merit list is prepared on the basis of your Aggregate percentage of marks in 10 the standard. There is so much confusion among candidates regarding the polytechnic diploma and ITI diploma program.

Basically, the difference between them is of a pattern of education, ITI encourages more the workshop related to the practical knowledge, while the polytechnic emphasis more on the theoretical course. After completing our polytechnic diploma program or ITI Diploma program candidates can get placements as Automotive Engineers or Automobile Engineer in the Automobile or Automotive Industry.

2). Bachelor Degree for How To Become an Automobile Engineer

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) / Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in  Automobile or Automotive Engineering is a program/degree of undergraduate level whose duration is four years. This branch of Engineering is very prominent and also provides high placement packages if one is Graduated from Government Institution.

A candidate must be passed class 12th from the science stream with subjects Mathematics, physics, and chemistry as the core, are eligible for this undergraduate course. Admission in Institutions / Colleges is mostly done through an entrance examination but in some colleges, there is also a merit-based system.

This is further subdivided into two Routes : 

  • Private College Route.
  • Government / public college Route

1). Private College Route: The average fees of B.Tech/B.E in Automobile or Automotive engineering from private colleges, varies from 3 Lacs – 6 Lacs. But the main demerit of pursuing a bachelor of engineering in Automobile Engineering / Bachelor of Technology in Automobile Engineering is that these Colleges don’t provide good placements at all. Most of the time, Candidates have to do everything at their own contacts.

2). Government College Route: The average fees of B.Tech in a vehicle or Automotive engineering from public/ Government colleges start from 2 Lacs – 5 Lacs (without hostel charges). 

For taking admission in government colleges or IIT’s, it’s mandatory to clear JEE Mains followed By JEE Advanced Examination. Then only, candidates can get Admission to such Institutions.

After clearing the exam of JEE MAINS and ADVANCE, Candidates / Applicants get admission to respective IIT’s. Like

  • IIT DELHI
  • IIT BOMBAY
  • IIT BHU
  • IIT ROORKEE, etc.

List of some Entrance Examinations for Bachelor Degree (B.Tech)/ B.E  in Automobile or Automotive or Vehicle engineering : 

1). JEE Mains: 

Eligibility: 10+2 with Science stream (PCM plus English are compulsory subjects). For admission into IIT’s, NIT’s, IIIT’s, and CFTI’s candidates must have qualified 10+ with 75% (65% for reserved category Applicants) markings.

2). JEE Advanced: 

JEE Mains is followed by the JEE Advance Entrance Exam which is conducted by or under the control of the Indian Institutes of technologies.

  • Mostly in private colleges / Institutes Admission criteria are based on the merit system moreover the average fees for the course are very high.
  • And, in government colleges, you have to clear the entrance examination and the average fees are comparatively lesser.

3). Master Degree Route: 

M.Tech (Master of Technology) in Civil Engineering:

M.Tech in Automobile Engineering (M.Tech AME) / M.Sc in Automobile Engineering / M.E in Automobile or Automotive Engineering is a postgraduate level course. This course makes the candidates effective, efficient, experts in designing, manufacturing and operating, and modifying vehicles in the automobile industry like bikes, buses, trucks, tempos, etc. The duration of this course is 2 years that makes their candidates as professionals or experts as needed.

Eligibility: Candidate must be passed B.Tech / B.E in Automobile Engineering or Automotive Engineering or vehicle engineering or any other equivalent degree from any of the recognized universities/colleges with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in Bachelor degree. A valid GATE score is also needed for getting admission in IITs and Government Colleges And Institutions and making your Masters valuable and fruitful.

Candidates who have passed B. Tech in Industrial Production, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics from a recognized university is also getting preferences in this course.

Entrance Examination for M.Tech in Automobile/ Automotive/ Vehicle Engineering Engineering: 

GATE: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science and technology.

Candidates must have a Valid Gate Score to get the Admission in government or public Colleges or Institutions.

Private Colleges offer M.Tech without Entrance Exams:

Yes, some of the private colleges are offering M.Tech in Automobile or Automotive or vehicle Engineering without any entrance exam. But it is not worth doing masters without having a valid gate score that comes from clearing gate examination.

Private colleges provide admission without gate examination but it doesn’t make your degree valuable. You have to get the Gate Score to have good placements in Automobile/Automatic/Vehicle engineering.

Let me remind this again that the Average required fees of Private Colleges are generally high in both B. Tech and M.Tech or any other equivalent degree in Automobile or Automotive or vehicle engineering as compared to public or government college.

Placements in Automobile/ Automotive / Vehicle Engineering: 

Automobile or Automotive or vehicle engineering has been one of the most prominent branches that offer high salary packages to graduates and postgraduates. After completing their bachelor’s or master’s degree Applicants has various options to work as. They can work as

  • Quality Engineer
  • Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Bike Mechanics
