In the festival of Navratri maa, Durga is worshipped for almost nine days and on the tenth day of this festival, the statue of goddess Durga is drowned in Ganga so that she will come again the next year. As the festival is for 9 days so the festival is named Navratri and it is also the festival of Dussehra because there is one more story of Lord Rama which is the reason by which the festival of Navratri is also named Dussehra. The story is different in every aspect. When the demon Ravana kidnaps Sita Mata during the exile of Ram Lakshmana and Mata Sita by disguising themself as a monk with the help of his supernatural powers.

Ravana did so to take revenge on Rama for the insult to his sister Surpanakha. After the kidnapping of Sita Mata by Ravana. Rama and Lakshmana built a bridge across the ocean with the help of several monkeys and stones that encrypted the name of Lord Rama on it. It is believed by the people that the stones which were used in the formation of the bridge did not drown in the water at all because the name of Lord Rama where encrypted on it. When Lord Rama and his team reached Lanka which was the hometown of the demon Ravana he gave him a warning to return Mata Sita with all respect and humanity but the demon and evil Ravana didn’t accept this proposal of Rama at all and he decided to fight with Lord Rama and his team. In this fight of 10 days, Ravana lost all his demon brothers and some other powerful Germans of his Empire.

Ravana was sure that he will not die at all because he was having 10 heads and his life was struck in his navel, not in his whole body. It was very difficult for Lord Rama to win the fight due to this secret of Ravana but finally, it was revealed by the younger brother of Ravana to Lord Rama. His name was Vibhishan and he was also a devotee of Lord Rama. At last lord, Rama won this battle of 10 days against the demon Ravana by betraying him, and finally, he was killed by Lord Rama. this is the reason why this festival of Dussehra is also known as the victory of good over evil. Because the duration of this fight was of 10 days that is why the festival of Dussehra is also celebrated for 10 days in India according to people of the Hindu religion.
