2). Bachelor Degree Route

B.Tech. in Computer Science is an engineering undergraduate course in computer sciences and technology. Applicants who have passed their 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are eligible to apply in this course.

Admission in B.Tech in computer science and engineering is mostly done through the Entrance Examinations. But there are some private colleges which do not conduct entrance examinations. They Admit students on the Merit-Based System.

There is a further subdivision of this route :

  • Private College Route.
  • Government / Public College Route.

Private College Route

The average course fees of B.Tech in Computer Science and engineering in private colleges starting from – 3 Lacs – 6 Lacs. For Taking Admission in Private Colleges you don’t need to attend the Entrance Exam. you can take Direct admission on Merit-Based.

Here we are, Providing List, of Some Private Engineering College

  • SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai
  • Lovely Professional University, Phagwara
  • Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal
  • Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore
  • PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore
  • RV College of Engineering, Bangalore
  • Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore
  • Birla Institute of Technology and Science

Government College Route

The average fees of B.Tech in computer science and engineering from public/ Government colleges – 2 Lacs – 5 Lacs (without hostel charges). For getting admission to best government institutions or IIT’s, candidates must have to go through the Examination of IIT JEE Mains followed By IIT JEE Advanced Examination.

After clearing the Examination of JEE Mains and Advance, Applicants get admission to recognized IIT’s. Like IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT BHU, IIT Roorkee, etc. Entrance Examinations for Admission in Bachelor degree (B.Tech) in computer science and engineering  from IIT’s and Government Colleges:

JEE Advanced: JEE Mains is followed by the JEE Advance Entrance Exam which is conducted by or under the control of Indian Institutes of technologies.

  • Mostly in Private Colleges/Institutions, Admission criteria are based on the merit system moreover the average fees for the course are very high.
  • And, in government colleges, you have to clear the entrance examination and the average course fees are comparatively low.

After clearing the Examination of IIT JEE Mains and Advance you will get Admission in Respective IIT’s then you have to select your branch in which you want to get Admission. Candidates trying to get Admission in computer science and engineering Opt Computer science and engineering as their Branch.

3). Master Degree Route

M.Tech Computer Science or Master of Technology in Computer Science is a 2-year postgraduate degree course that can be pursued after completing the Bachelor’s degree. The course is subdivided into 4 semesters.

Eligibility: The basic eligibility for pursuing M.Tech in Computer Science or M.S. in Computer Science degree is a Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and engineering or any equivalent bachelor’s degree from any recognized university/college with a minimum of 50% marks in Bachelor degree.

A valid GATE score is also mandatory for getting admission to IIT’s and Government Colleges And Institutions. Entrance Examination for M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering or any equivalent Masters Degree :

GATE: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science and technology. It is mandatory to have a good gate examination score to get Admission in Masters of computer science and engineering. This also helps is Making your Degree valuable in terms of Placements.

Private Colleges offering  M.Tech / M.Sc in computer science and engineering  without Entrance Exams:

Yes, some private colleges offer M.Tech/ M.Sc in computer science and engineering without any entrance exam. But generally, their ranking is not so good and doesn’t provide good placements at all. So it’s better to clear the examination of the gate and have a better gate score to secure your Master’s degree.

Let me Highlight this fact again that the Average course fees of Private Colleges for B.Tech / M.Tech in computer science and engineering are generally high as compared to the course fees in both B.Tech and M.Tech in public or government colleges and Institutions.

Final Step: Placements in Computer Science and Engineering :

The placements and job packages as so good of a CSE Graduate and Post Graduates. They can have their placements as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, System Engineer, Network Administrators, Database Administrator, Web  Engineer in various IT Companies and MNCs.

If they would like to have placements in government organizations, they need to clear the entrance examination of the concerned Government / PSU jobs first.
