The International Day of Education was established by the United Nations General Assembly by a resolution that was adopted on December 3, 2018. This day was chosen for the International Day of Education to commemorate the anniversary of adopting sustainable development goal 4 (SDG 4) on education, which occurred on January 24, 2015.
