Master of Technology

M.Tech degree stands for Master of Technology which is a postgraduate degree in the field of engineering. Students must go through different state-level and national-level entrance examinations for securing a seat for this course. The course is designed for students who are passionate about engineering and technology, have the required skills, and wish to specialize in a particular domain of engineering. The primary specialization students most prefer is Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, VLSI,  Civil Engineering, Electronics, Communication Engineering, etc. It is offered in four main categories 

1. Regular M.Tech which is Full time
2. Sponsored M.Tech which is also Full time
3. Part-Time M.Tech which is part-time
4. Project Staff M.Tech which is for students who are presently working on sponsored projects

Master of Technology (M.Tech) degree is regulated by (UGC) University Grants Commission, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and (NBA) National Board of Accreditation. 

M.Tech Eligibility Criteria 

The minimum eligibility criteria that students need to meet for admission to an M.Tech degree are as follows:-

1. All candidates must have completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree/ Bachelors of Technology (B.Tech) degree with a valid score in the GATE examination for admission to the M.Tech degree.
2. Students who have completed a 5-year program in  Science or Applied Sciences resulting in the Award of a Master of Science degree are eligible for the Master of Engineering Course.
3. Admission is granted to students based on rank obtained by candidates in entrance exams.

Entrance Exam for M.Tech

GATE – Graduate Aptitude Test is a widely accepted and preferred entrance examination for Master of Technology. The fee structure for pursuing a Master of Technology varies from Government institutions to Private Engineering Colleges. Private colleges generally charge higher fees which can range from INR 2-6 lakh per annum. If we compare private colleges to government colleges, Government colleges generally charge lower which ranges between INR 1-3 lakh per annum.

This course contains a vast syllabus from different domains related to Networking, Advanced Programming, Mathematics, and many more. This course is divided into 4 semesters which get completed in two years, and 6 months for completing 1 semester.

The Average Salary in India for M.Tech/ME graduate varies as per the specialization you opt for. If you are an average engineer you can get close to INR 4.10 LPA, while Civil Engineerrrv can earn around 3.60 LPA.
